While I have been working a lot at my day job, I have also been very busy in my spare time working on new and exciting projects. As you may have heard, I released my new ebook, "Relax Your Mind". It describes simple meditation techniques to relieve stress and quiet a busy mind. It is great for anyone that is looking for a way to manage or relieve their stress. Spring is here and it is a time of detoxification and rebirth of nature. This time of year is when the liver is dominate. Therefore it is a great time to detoxify the liver and the body. It is also a great time to detoxify your mind. Let go of old habits of worry and negativity and focus on being in the present moment .

Qigong provides many tools for training the mind, reducing stress and increasing energy to improve your health. I have benefited from many forms of Qigong. You can experience similar benefits too. The purpose of the Vital Qi Newsletter is to bring awareness to Qigong and to inform you of Qigong classes and products available at Inner Vitality Qigong. We also intend on covering other natural health related topics. We look forward to working with you and growing together as we cultivate inner vitality through the art of Qigong. Lessons From The Masters

Lessons from the Tao Te Ching

Chapter 11

"Thirty spokes join in one hub
  In its emptiness, there is the function of a vehicle
Mix clay to create a container
 In its emptiness, there is the function of a container
Cut open doors and windows to create a room
  In its emptiness, there is the function of a room"
Therefore, that which exists is used to create benefit
  That which is empty is used to create functionality"

In Chapter 11, the Tao indicates that it is through removing things and creating emptiness, that functionality is created. Like cutting doors and windows from a clay container, allows it to become a room with a door and windows. Thus, it is important to not only appreciate the beauty of material objects, but we should appreciate and be grateful for what is not seen (emptiness). It is the empty spaces that enable the material objects to become functional. This concept also applies to the realm of thoughts. We often focus on the thoughts themselves. But it often times in the spaces between the thoughts, otherwise known as silence, that some of the greatest ideas have emerged. Thus, it is important to learn to silence your thoughts, as we teach in Qigong, on a regular basis to improve the function of the mind.

If you find yourself feeling stressed, take a few moments to focus on your breathing. With each breath, inhale slowly and deeply into your abdomen and allow your abdomen to expand. Then exhale slowly as your abdomen retracts. Remember, your breathing should have the characteristics of slow, long, thin, even, and soft.
